Crochet is my pandemic born hobby. It allows me to disconnect from everything that is going on out in the world.
Like for many of you out there, these past two years have been ROUGH on me. I am a very social person and this pandemic has taken a toll on my mental health.
Don’t get me wrong, I totally support doing whatever it is that we need to do for the greater good and I 100% support health workers, essential workers, etc. I will do my best to alleviate their load like following the government mandates and recommendations, getting vaccinated (already have my 3rd dose) but that doesn’t substract from the fact that isolation, remote work, Covid restrictions, etc. have been hard to cope with.
Fall of 2020 was one of my low points. My mother decided to come to the rescue and came to visit me for 3 weeks, even knowing that she would have to quarantine for 2 weeks in my apartment. She brought a couple of things to keep herself busy, including some knitting projects. I was curious and asked her to teach me how to crochet. I LOVED it.
Crochet created a space where I could focus on the stich, on counting, on researching future projects, etc. while zoning everything else out.
Since then, I have done some basic projects. I did a couple of throw blankets for beginners (that I probably had to redo twice because I would mess up), some scarfs, beanies, etc. Mostly simple stuff.
Since then, I have been learning mostly from Youtube tutorials and free patterns I find on Pinterest. I don’t put that much pressure on myself, crochet brings me joy and God knows I am in desperate need of it!
So I thought, why not do something more formal and start documenting my projects? I wanted to share this with other people who are on the same boat as me. I am not an expert, most of the time I don’t know what I am doing. I am simply learning at my pace, through trial and error. So, feel free to join if you want to try it out with me!
I’ll show you the different projects I will be working on and I will share all the info regarding tutorials, patterns, inspiration, etc so that you can also do them if you like them. I’ll try to keep everything short and sweet!
Welcome 🙂
